Welcome back to another episode of Mindset, Mess and Magic.

I’m your host, Hayley Scott Summers, and I’m super happy you’re here.

I only came back last week literally the day before my daughter was due to go into labour. And I thought, You know what? This is a really good time to bring back the thing I previously never had time for… so here I am!!

I’m going to give you a very quick life update first. I’m recording this from the restaurant today, you might hear some background chaos. In fact, so far, I’ve had to navigate:

  • A gas engineer showing up unexpectedly

  • A courier asking to use the toilet while we were closed

  • Random banging outside

The phone might even ring at some point—if it does, I’ll just have to hop up and take it. This is the reality of taking messy, aligned action. And I’m happy to show you what that actually looks like, in real time, rather than pretending I’ve got some perfect set up. (For the record: the studio is coming—it’ll probably be ready in about four weeks!)

Becoming Mimi 💫

So, last time I recorded, it was the day before my daughter Phoebe went into labour. Now, I’m the very, very, very proud grandmother of little baby Devon.

Phoebe gave birth after a 25-hour labour that ended in an emergency C-section. I won’t share too many details because it’s her story, and I’m aware birth stories can be triggering if you’ve had your own difficult experience. But let’s just say it was a wild ride.

Here’s what you need to know: Devon is here, he’s safe and loved. My daughter has taken to motherhood beautifully—I am beyond proud of her. Watching her step into this role has blown me away.

For the record, I’m not “Grandma.” At 38, I wasn’t feeling that vibe. I’m Mimi, and my partner Craig is Pop Pops. (Yes, we sound like cartoon characters. It fits.)

I’ll do another episode soon about the journey Phoebe and I have been on together, healing generational patterns and navigating our new roles as mother and daughter—and now as mother and grandmother. There’s so much there around healing, growth, and unexpected blessings. But for now, just know: I’ve cried a lot of happy tears this past week.

Today’s Topic: Soul-Aligned Strategy

Now onto today’s episode: Soul-Aligned Strategy for Your Business.

Here’s why I wanted to talk about this. Through my own journey as a spiritual entrepreneur—and through countless conversations with other creatives, artists, and spiritually connected people—I’ve noticed a recurring pattern.

Many creatives resist structure. They think:

  • “I don’t plan, I’m an artist.”

  • “Strategy feels masculine or corporate.”

  • “I just need to go with the flow.”

And I get it. I’ve been there. Structure can feel stifling if you see it as rigid, boring, or corporate. But here’s the truth:

👉 Winging it is for eyeliner, not for your goals and dreams.

Your creativity, your business, your magic—they deserve more than just spaghetti-at-the-wall energy. (Fun fact: I only learned the actual meaning of that expression when I got together with a chef. Turns out it’s literally about testing if pasta is cooked!)

What you really need is strategy that feels authentic, spacious, and aligned with your soul. Not cookie-cutter productivity hacks. Not five-point checklists written by some bot. Real, bespoke, designer-for-you strategy.

Step One: Connect to Your Authentic Self

Before you can create strategy, you need clarity on who you are and what you want. Without that foundation, no strategy will stick.

Ways to do this:

  • Journalling (write it all out—messy, honest, unfiltered)

  • Meditation (if you can sit with it)

  • Nature time (phones down, headphones off, just be)

Personally, journalling has been huge for me this year. Some pages are absolute nonsense, but often I uncover stories I didn’t realise I was telling myself—limiting beliefs that were holding me back. Once you see them written down, you can release them and write a new story.

Step Two: Ditch Comparison

Stop looking sideways at what everyone else is doing.

Use others’ success as proof it’s possible, not as evidence you’re behind.

Comparison keeps you stuck; compassion moves you forward.

Step Three: Redefine Strategy

Strategy isn’t a dirty word!!

It doesn’t stifle creativity - it supports it.

Done right, strategy gives your ideas the space they need to flourish.

Four Pillars of Soul-Aligned Strategy

  1. Energy Audit – Where is your attention going daily? Where do you want it to flow? Energy flows where attention goes.

  2. Seasonal Structure – Align your commitments with the season you’re in, not the one you were in last year. (For me, stepping into “Mimi season” means more responsibilities, so my structure looks different now than it did a year ago.)

  3. Radical Responsibility – No excuses. Own your role in creating your life and business. If you’ve got hours for TikTok, you’ve got hours for your dreams.

  4. Consistency – The unsexy word that changes everything. Success doesn’t come from one big moment. It’s the stacking of small, consistent actions over time.

And here’s the thing: if you combine consistency with radical responsibility and self-compassion? You’re unstoppable.

Final Thoughts

Please remember: self-compassion is key. Without it, you’ll beat yourself up over the inevitable failures that are actually required for success. With it, you’ll see those failures as stepping stones.

I’ll leave you with this: strategy is not about suffocating your creativity. It’s about giving it a safe, nourishing home. Winging it might get you through a day, but soul-aligned strategy will get you through a lifetime.

Thank you so much for being here. If anything from today’s episode resonated, let me know—I’d love to hear from you. DM me on Instagram @HayleyScottSummers and tell me how you’re creating space for soul-aligned strategy in your business or creative projects.

Until next week—lots of love. I believe in you. 💫
